Thursday
Work was fine today. In the morning, I worked on my Baker and Taylor order lists, read and responded to email, updated the bulletin boards, and completed other tasks. In the afternoon, I presented a mini story time to pre-schoolers from one of the campus day care centers, changed my benefits (Open enrollment month), and completed other tasks. Oh, and I was on the desk also! (of course!) After my eight hour day, I drove to my dance class. Today, I had back to back hip hop classes! Two hours and fifteen minutes of exercise! I survived! Yay! I'm looking forward to my five classes for next week.

Hula in Pleasanton
Soloists and groups fro my halau, Hula Halau 'O Pi'ilani, competed in the Ia 'Oe E Ka La Hula Festival in Pleasanton on November 2, 3 and 4. My Step-Mom, my Dad and I watched the soloists compete on Friday and the groups compete on Saturday. We enjoyed watching the soloists and the groups from sixteen different halaus from California, Hawai'i and Japan. In previous years, we have watched halaus from Nevada and other states; however, they didn't compete this year.

Read this if you care about children and teens
I am appalled by President Bush's veto of the Children's Healthcare Bill. $35 billion dollars over 5 years to provide health care for needy children and teens is a bargain compared to the billions and billions of dollars spent on the war in Iraq, killing who knows how many innocent civilians, including who knows how many children and teens. Why does our president condone killing Iraqi children and teens while refusing to provide health care to American children and teens?
